Santali Language Speakers in India by State: 1991-2011

Santali had 77.23 lakh total speakers in the 2011 Census, up from 66.41 lakh in 2001 and 52.62 lakh in 1991. Of the 2011 total, 73.68 lakh declared it their mother tongue, making it overwhelmingly a first language with a small but growing bilingual base.
