About this data

The UDISE+ Dashboard is the live data portal maintained by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India. It publishes annual school-level statistics for all States and Union Territories, covering school infrastructure, enrolment, teaching staff, and educational outcome metrics.

On TheMapsDaily, the UDISE+ Dashboard is used for data from 2022-23 onwards, covering schools, students, teachers, infrastructure indicators, and outcome metrics including gross and net enrolment ratios, dropout rates, transition rates, pupil-teacher ratio, and gender parity index.

How we process it

Data Processing

  • Data downloaded from the UDISE+ live dashboard per indicator and year
  • Financial years (e.g. 2022-23) converted to the starting calendar year for consistency
  • State names normalised to TheMapsDaily region IDs
  • Infrastructure indicators sourced as counts of schools meeting each criterion; ratio and rate metrics taken as published
