Total Population of India, State-wise Census Estimates

The Census of India, 2011 is the decennial population enumeration conducted by the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India. It is the most recent completed census and serves as the primary demographic reference for India. It covers every household across all States and Union Territories.

• Population and demographics: total population, sex ratio, age distribution, literacy rates, and worker classification
• Geographic units: area, population density, number of villages (inhabited and uninhabited), towns, and households
• Language: native speaker counts for all scheduled languages under the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution
