Maithili-Speaking Population Across Indian States: 2011

Maithili is spoken primarily in the Mithila region of northern Bihar and is one of India's 22 Scheduled languages, with around 1.36 crore native speakers recorded in the 2011 Census. It is also spoken in the Terai districts of Nepal, where it is a significant regional language.
