India's leopard population has doubled since 1989

India's leopards have roughly doubled since 1989, from ~6,800 to ~13,900 by 2022. Unlike tigers, they never hit a crisis low. They do well in forests, scrublands, and settlement fringes. Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka hold over half the national population.
